Biography

Alp Aslan was born in Ankara, During his years studying Statistics at METU (Middle East Technical University), he took courses in sculpture, art history and film analysis. He advanced his skills in film production and editing at the Audiovisual Research Centre (GISAM) of the university. He made more than fifty short movies so far. Some of his films have been screened and awarded at national and international festivals.

Aslan worked as a PM in international IT companies for many years and he found the chance to travel to many countries. He wrote two books based on his travel adventures. His first book “Road Memories of an Anarchist” was published by Propaganda Publications in 2019 and the second “Anarkoseyyahla Bi Dünya” was published by Mantis Publications in 2021. He also made organizations and curating international art residencies and exhibitions.

Aslan is a partner of Kült Kavaklıdere Cinema, Theater and Cultural Center in Ankara.

About his movies: Alp Aslan makes low-budget experimental short fiction films. He uses smartphones and personal relationships to create his films. His experimental films focus on ethnic issues, minority rights, endangered cultures, etc. His fiction films are generally silent and crime-themed.
